Athletic Hall of Fame 2018

 

 

Purpose:

The Swainsboro High School Athletic Hall of Fame has been established to recognize those individuals who have made significant contributions to Swainsboro High School athletics, whether in the arena of competition, or who have, in some other way, been of major contributor in establishing or maintaining the athletic programs at SHS.

 

Who is eligible?
- Athletes 7 years out of high school
- Coaches 5 years out of coaching at Swainsboro High School
- Community Members/Boosters

 

Criteria for Athlete:

1. Athletic participation at Swainsboro High School

2. Must have been out of Swainsboro High School for at least 7 years. The time limitation could be lifted due to extenuating circumstances such as terminal illness.

3. While athletic achievement is of prime importance; moral character, positive role model and good citizenship during high school and post-high school years will be taken into consideration.

4. Other factors to consider: Individual and team accomplishments and balance among sports.

5. Nominees in the Hall of Fame shall have an equal opportunity for admission without discrimination based on their race, creed, sex, martial status, national origin, ability or disability.

 

Criteria for Coach:

1. Must have made a significant contribution to Swainsboro High School athletics and have demonstrated good character and citizenship.

2. Must have been out of coaching at Swainsboro High School for at least 5 years. The time limitation could be lifted due to extenuating circumstances such as terminal illness.

3. Other factors to consider: Longevity, coaching honors, peer recognition, balance among sports, and team accomplishments

4. Nominees in the Hall of Fame shall have an equal opportunity for admission without discrimination based on their race, creed, sex, martial status, national origin, ability or disability.

 

Criteria for Community Member/Booster:

1. Must have made a significant contribution to Swainsboro High School athletics and have demonstrated good character and citizenship.

2. Other factors to consider: Longevity, peer recognition, and balance among sports.

3. Nominees in the Hall of Fame shall have an equal opportunity for admission without discrimination based on their race, creed, sex, martial status, national origin, ability or disability.

 

Who makes up the Selection Committee?

  • Two Swainsboro High School administrators - High School Principal and High School Athletic Director
  • Two current Swainsboro High School coaches
  • Two current Athletic Booster Club officers
  • One Swainsboro High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductee (The first year this position will be filled by an Athletic Council representative)
  • One community member.
  • The High School Athletic Director will use his/her discretion to choose the selection committee members as well as their time served on the committee.

Nomination forms can be picked up at all Swainsboro Schools and the Emanuel County Board of Education building located at 201 North Main Street. They also can be found at swainsborotigerathletics.com. Completed nomination forms have to be returned by August 10, 2018.
