The Tigers boys basketball squad created some momentum with a 3-0 week in region play and now look forward to hosting #4 Laney on Tuesday night and #8 Vidalia on Saturday night.

In review of the previous week, the Tigers dismantled Southeast Bulloch 64-33 on Tuesday night to kick off what would be a great week for Tiger basketball. On Friday, Swainsboro hit the road against an always tough Screven County team. Screven pushed Swainsboro to double overtime in the season’s first match up and eventually fell to the Tigers. Late game drama was absent this time, as the Tigers rolled up a 30 point victory to sweep the Gamecocks by a score of 83-53.

On Saturday night, Swainsboro strolled over to Toombs County and secured another double digit win, 54-42, as the Bulldogs couldn’t get much going offensively against a stingy Tigers defense. The win moved Swainsboro to 9-7 overall, with a perfect 5-0 sub region mark.

Now the deep breath before the plunge: Laney will come into the Tigers Den on Tuesday night (score unavailable at press time) with only one blemish on an otherwise spotless record. The Wildcats are 16-1 and looking to avenge the only loss of the season at the hands of Swainsboro, 71-69 in early December. Laney leads the sub region in offense (75 points/game) and is tied in team defense (55 points/game). They have scored 85+ points in their past 4 games.

Swainsboro will travel to Jefferson County on Friday at 8:45 p.m. and host Vidalia on Saturday at 5:45 p.m. The Warriors and the Indians are both rivalry games for the Tigers, though both teams have struggled recently to find success. Swainsboro will look to continue to gain momentum as they prepare for the region playoffs in mid Feb.
