Tigers celebrate 10 year anniversary
2010 marks the 10 year anniversary of the Swainsboro Tigers 2000 AAA football state championship team. Players from that team were recognized during a half time ceremony commemorating the season in which the Tigers completed a 14-1 season with a 6-0 title game victory against the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane.
Swainsboro used a dominating defense that season to punish opposing offenses with only one team scoring against them in the playoffs. The “Wrecking Crew†is still mentioned as one of most dominant defenses in memory around the state.
