Tiger Football awards at the BOE meeting

The Emanuel County Board of Education met Monday night for their regularly scheduled workshop meeting. The board welcomed a capacity crowd to honor Jr. Beta winners and football players.
Recognitions were awarded to Jr. Beta elementary and middle school students from Swainsboro and Twin City. Students won state awards for literature, pastel sketches, media presentations, embroidery, reading, and other academics. A full listing of all students honored and their accomplishments can be found at the end of this article.
Maria Daniels, Principal of Adrian School of Performing Arts made a detailed power-point presentation to the board. Daniels updated board members on numerous recent accomplishments by students of the school.
In other business the board:
• Approved a Georgia High School Graduation Test waiver.
• Announced that Renae McNeely, Media Specialist at SHS, will transfer to Swainsboro Middle School effective January 25, 2011.
• Announced that Mac Barron, Social Studies teacher at SHS, will transfer to the position of Media Specialist at the school.
• Approved the final employment of the following classified personnel following fingerprinting results: Connie Holden, Paula Kellum, Lucille Passsmore and Sandra Screws, substitute food service; and Frank Wimberly, substitute teacher.
